Abstract

The incorporation of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) is decisive in the knowledge society, requiring a substantial transformation of educational practice. However, in the context of the canton of Jipijapa, there is a significant gap between the availability of technological resources and their effective pedagogical implementation, which limits teachers’ professional development. The objective of this research was to analyze the impact of the pedagogical use of ICT on strengthening teaching competencies in educational institutions in this territory. Methodologically, a quantitative approach with a descriptive-correlational scope and a non-experimental design was employed, applying structured surveys to a representative sample of local teachers. The results show a positive correlation between the frequency of use of digital tools and the perception of professional self-efficacy; however, the predominant use remains instrumental rather than curricular. It is concluded that the pedagogical use of ICT acts as a fundamental catalyst for teacher strengthening in Jipijapa, although its effectiveness depends on moving beyond mere equipment provision toward continuous training programs that promote true didactic appropriation and innovation in teaching-learning processes.
